Sorry for the long hiatus. Things have been pretty crazy on my end for the last several months. I am officially an “only one” in training. I am about 3/4 of the way through my licensing process. I will then enter the field training portion of my departments certification process. The entire process takes almost a year, which means that I will be just about qualified to get myself or someone else hurt around the first of 2010.

Never try to move during the holidays. The holidays are enough hassle with out trying to move all of your household goods at the same time. That is the reason that posting has been nonexistent for the last few weeks. The more things I put into boxes, the more I think we should just walk away and start over. We have moved pretty much everything into storage but the bare essentials and the things that we are going to cram into my parents house while we look for a place to buy. The whole thing would be lot easier if the bank would have just let us buy before we moved so we could just move our junk from one place to the next, but thanks to the housing mess they want proof that we are employed in the area where we want to purchase. Oh well, if the housing market hadn’t gone tits up we would not have been able to afford much of a house anyway. So we just have to be patient. I will try to get back to posting on a regular basis as soon as we get moved (or I give up and sit down to drink a beer).

We are off to the gun show today. I will try to snap up any available full auto Glock 23s or Colt Anacondas that I see for less than $100.00.

As usual the UN has been busy wasting money and ignoring its duties. This time they spent $23 million (yes, million) dollars on a mural for the ceiling in their European Headquarters. I could have done the whole thing with a class of kindergartners and $200. This is just another glaring example of why the US should not be trying to pull out of the UN, we should disband it completely. The UN is a great example of bureaucracy at its worst; expensive, corrupt, and ineffectual.

I am ashamed to admit that I was watching the GAC channel yesterday morning while I was on the treadmill. I did not want to turn the volume up at 0600 and figured that I could just check out some music videos with the sound off. One of the videos that came on was Chicken Fried from the Zac Brown Band. Well I got to checking out their website and realized that I had already heard the song on the radio a couple of times and really liked it, just didn’t know who performed it. I haven’t heard any of their earlier stuff, but if it is as good as their new cd it is good.  Swing on by and give them a listen. Be sure to listen to ’sic em on a chicken’.

Apparently I was correct to panic, along with a lot of other folks. If this is any indication of ‘that ones’ intentions,  it is going to be an oppressive 4 years.

Don’t forget, today is National Ammo Day. I stopped and picked up a few boxes this morning on the way to work because I was afraid I would forget or get sidetracked. I didn’t get nearly as much as I would have liked, but it still made a sizeable hole in my pocketbook.

I am ashamed to admit that I am one of the people contributing to the shortage of magazines, ammo, and guns. I thought that I had enough mags and ammo (you can never have too many guns) for a while, until I realized how badly things went on election day. Then I started having flashbacks about trying to afford quality mags around 2002, and started to panic. I hold out hope that the licking the gun control crowd took in the 1996 elections will put a damper on the prospects for new bans, but Congress seems to have no longer a memory than the American voter, so I am stocking up.

I know that by purchasing these items I am probably helping to falsely inflate the price of certain types of guns, gear, and ammo; but I am afraid that if I wait the price will be more inflated later or the Congress will come out of their Inaugural hangovers and stupors about 1 February and drive prices through the roof with legislation. I don’t know what else to do. I don’t believe that the NRA endorsements of legislators like Chet Edwards (who voted for the 94 ban and a lot of other anti gun legislation) will carry any political water when the bans start needing sponsors and votes.

There is no need to spend the money on an African safari. Apparently there are RINOs running loose in Washington DC.
